Bethesda's Blessing For so long he did sadly lay by Bethesda's pool. I wonder if it was hot each day and if the nights were cool. As he watched the folk get healed, did his eyes fill up with tears? For he had laid upon his bed for all of thirty-eight years. He must have hoped, on that feast day, That many alms would come his way. But did he ever dream, through all of his pain, That on that very day he would walk again? The Stranger that walked with His faithful few Looked at him as if He knew And asked a question of the man by the pool That must have seemed like He was a fool. "Do you want to be well?" He asked the man Who must have thought, "As if I can! I have no one who really cares for me To help me in, Canšt He see!" The Stranger had not asked him how he would Heal himself if he only could But He had asked him only about desire-- A spark of hope that could become a fire. He told the man to "take up your bed and walk" Thirty-eight years! What foolish talk! And yet the man did as the Stranger had said He not only walked but took up his bed You have a need like that man had And Jesus would help but you have said, "I have no one to help me now, not a single man So You can not help me for You do not fit my plan." But Jesus does not ask us how For He can do the task right now Do not think of your problem, how or when, But leave the solution up to Him! by Pastor Van, 6-9-97
