Here are some thoughts from your little slogan I-gbe.

       Advice from parent to child
You ask me, "Dad, how can I know
        To shun the wrong and to choose the right?
How can I always find my way
        As I stumble through this earth's night?"

"If only I could always be with you,
        Dear little child of mine,
You could trust me to guide you.
        But I can't be with you all the time.

"So, perhaps, the best thing 
        That a dad can do
Is to give advice that can guide
        You your whole life through.

"First, trust you intelligence
        When your feeling are driving you
God gave you a mind as well as a heart
        So, Think before you do.

"But who will instruct intelligence
        When your mind seems to be divided
When there is no one near to help you
        When important choices are decided?

"Be guided by experience!"
        Still I can hear you ask,
"How can experience guide me
        When it is experience that I lack!"

Wise men learn from their own mistakes
        Fools never learn at all
But the wisest learn from the mistakes of others
        So that they need not fall

But while intelligence and experience may combine
        To help you make each choice
Remember that what you choose is yours to do
        Whether you weep or rejoice.

Never blame another 
        When your choice is wrong
Then when you choose the right
        Your heart will be filled with song.

Never ask, when things go wrong,
        And nothing around you seems firm,
"What is God trying to teach me?"
        But rather, "What is it that I can learn?"

For Roman 8:28 tells us
        That our God is always able
To bring some kind of good
        No matter what we bring to the "table".
