Maybe these thoughts can encourage you folk The Two Commandments in I Corinthians 11:28 Yes, there are two commandments That Paul puts in this verse. They are meant to make us better And not to make us worse The first is, "Let a man who would eat For himself an exam must take." The second command is of equal value For it reads,"Then let him partake." Now I thought about all of the exams That I have taken since my birth Some have different degrees of difficulty With answers of different worth. I am sure the exam that we are to take Will have at least three parts; One will be True or False, Fill in the Blanks And then an Essay from our hearts The true or false will be kind of easy Like, "To God I do belong" And we can answer them with a breeze Our hearts will be full of song It's the Multiple Choice ones that are harder For all of the blanks demand that we give some thought They ask us to look at the paths we have taken To see if we have always done what we ought Now the third part is an Essay question That will take more than one "Blue Book", you see. The question is really quite simple. It is, "Tell me, how much do you really love me?" Now when you have finished the testing "Who will grade it?" you ask Surely not a pastor or elder For it is The Teacher's task. Now John in his lovely epistle Tells us who that teacher is And that He has come to prepare a bride So the grading job is His. As you submit the test to Him you may wonder When He has read the test and His grading is through How can you keep His next commandment For you are damned if you don't or if you do. But look at the test He is returning Before we pass out the wine and the bread Look at what He has written across it (I know that you think you are dead!) For what can make us worthy enough to partake Surely not the life we are livin' But look at the word He has written Beneath your grade. It is the word FORGIVEN! Pastor Van 6/1/97
