John 10::10-17
If I were really a sheep
Like those I count as I fall asleep
In stead of what I really am
Just another mortal man,
Then life would be easier far.
I would not wonder about yonder star
Nor dread the future or remember the past
And think about when life has passed.
No, all I would need is a shepherd kind
Who could keep all of my needs in mind
He would fight my foes so I need not worry
Just walk beside him and never hurry
No schools to attend or boss to please
No rheumatic pain in both my knees
No wife to choose nor kids to raise
As a sheep I would just graze
No bills to meet nor taxes to pay
Never to worry what "THEY" may say
No jealousy nor fear of being misunderstood
No haunting question, "Am I really good?'
These are problems that sheep don't know
They never wonder where they will go
And if the Shepherd is good (so I've been told)
He will not threaten or even scold
But will hold such love for each of his sheep
That He will watch over them as they sleep
And should an enemy come to threaten strife
He will for them even give up his life
And such a shepherd I have known
Who will claim you as his own
If you but call upon His name
He will treat you just the same.
