Labor Day 1997 Here is a thought for you to think on As you drive your Chevy or Lincoln, As you drink your ice tea or lemon aid On this special Labor Day. When God drove man from His garden His own heart He would not harden. For, though He kept His gate with flaming saber He gave to man the "gift of labor." So when you arise at early dawn This is what you should think on, "God, who would not his creation spoil, Gives us each day our daily toil." So from what we do we are known Whether we garden or sit on a throne. And when we close our eyes at night If we've done well we feel alright. And even when we cease this world to roam And we arrive at our Heavenly home We will not, in that land so fair Spend eternity in a rocking chair. But we will like God's angels be So that through out all eternity We will always do what is right By serving God both day and night. So it is good to thank God (it is no quirk) That we should choose to honor work, For six days God labored before He quit And on the seventh He rested a bit. So labor is good as God is good And when this is clearly understood Then I can be proud of what I am Proud to be a laboring man. Pastor Van
