LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE CAT ON MY LAP When you come home from the Diner And lay back in your recliner And a cat jumps up into you lap You can push the cat away Say, "Try some other day" But she'll look at you like you are some sort of sap. Now you can try to fight it Pretend that you are benighted But it will not change a single thing. You can just ignore the kitty (Whether you live in town or city) But with her gentle purring she will sing. So just take the time to learn a lesson From your cat's unique obsession Instead of fighting again your loosing battle. See how quickly she can let go Of her battle with her new foe She never carries on as if she's rattled. She can have a "hissy fight" With a cat when she thinks she's right But she never keeps it in when the fighting's through. So when you are again upset And your mind filled with regret Letting go is the best thing you can do. Although her battle may be intense She never does stay tense But on your lap you find she just relaxes. Perhaps it is just because She really has no claws Or maybe it's because she pays no taxes. So, if she sits on your pants or dress Learn from her to have no stress But totally relax now that your done. And when your day is through Here is just the thing to do Let your problems end with the setting sun. ghvs 12/10/96
