There was a time not long ago
Some of us can remember
Whether in the heat of summer
Or cold bleak December
When people heard our Anthem sung
Or saw our flag pass by
The heart would kind of skip a beat
And a tear might fill the eye
We knew our Country was not perfect
But it was better than the rest
While we knew we were not perfect
We knew we were the best.
Now what has happen in our land?
What has happened to our youth?
Why are they not proud of America?
I'll try to tell the truth
People who despise America
Are teaching in our schools
And what they teach our children
Will make them into fools
They can not point with worthy pride
To a country that is better,
A country that has given so much
That we have become a debtor.
They can always see our faults
And we would not deny them
Nor would we ever be content
Just to try to hide them.
They make our children to feel ashamed
To be a true patriot
They make them feel that we are wrong.
What we believe is rot!
Ask them what this faith of theirs
That makes them oh so brave
Is it worth truly fighting for
Is this land one they would save
To think of men who loved our land
And spent their youth in trying
To keep this country for the folk who see
This land is worth our dying
Why are they not ashamed to teach
Such destructive views?
Why are we so ashamed to challenge
This slanted kind of news?
Why do those, who have lived so long
And done so much for the U.S.A.,
Find the people for whom they fought
Won't listen to what they say?
Show me a country at any time
That has a history as fine as ours,
Who helped the weak and helpless.
For good we used our powers.
So we made a mistake called slavery
A truth we will not seek to hide
And when we sought to free the slave
White Americans fought and died
We have led the nations of this world
Both in war and in peace
No other country has a past like ours
And may it never cease
For it was Faith in God that built this land
And made us care for each other
And it was the Holy Bible that caused us
To see all men as our brother
Now those who see the line above
As showing gender bias
Try to avoid the truth that's said
By appearing very pious.
God has blessed America
For she tried to do His will.
And if just we return to Him
He will bless us still!
