When the Future is Obscured How can I experience what God can do Except by the things He puts me through? I can read about just what it took To live for God in some ancient book. Or I can hear about it from the lips of my mother Or from one of my sisters or a brother. I can see it, too, in drama on a stage While actors run and rant and rage. But just to learn it all first hand and find That God is good and great and kind, To learn how God can set a prisoner free Unless I first that prisoner be. To escape from the pessimist's trap, I first must feel the ironšs snap. How can we expect to be All that we can and are? There is no gain without some pain That our plans may sometimes mar. So let me place my hand in God's And never even try To understand what God is doing Nor ever ask Him, "Why?" Some may seek a psychic Or tea leaves in a cup Some may try a Ouija board Or look their horoscope up But I will trust in God to do What is best for me Until I enter Heaven's gates And my dear Savior see!
