"THANKS BE TO GOD FOR HIS UNSPEAKABLE GIFT!"

When we sit down to our Thanksgiving meal,
         We may not control just how we will feel,
                But this one thing we know is quite real
God gave us so very much!

We may not have attained much wealth
        We may not be in the best of health
                Time has stolen our strength by stealth
Yet God has given us so much!

The world may not think that we have much
        Of fame and wealth and "such and such"
                Still we know that we are in God's clutch
For God has given us so much!

Now this we know, as time may pass
        When we feel like the rest of our class,
                We could be like any other lad or lass
Had God not given us so much!

He gave us life. He gave us breath.
        He, for us, even suffered death 
                For that we would give all we hath
But God GAVE us so very much!

When this little life is o'er
        And time for us will be no more.
                When we reach that heavenly shore
God will still be giving us much!

Thanksgiving, then, should mean just this
        That, while earthly comforts we may miss.
                We shall experience Heavenly bliss
For God has given us so very much!
