Taking Time To Eulogize Why do we wait Until it's too late To write a eulogy? Why does it take so long To write a love song From the heart of you or me? Let us take time to tell Before the midnight bell To someone we admire For a kind word While it can be heard May more good works inspire. Take the time to write Before the day becomes night A note of gratitude. Take time to call From the phone it the hall It will change you attitude. They may feel forgotten Or even kind of rotten At this time in their lives. They may be alone Or a long way from home Missing their family and wives. The deed they did they may not know It maybe lost in the days long ago If it changed you, then tell it. You do not need a special gift To give this special one a lift But don't whisper or yell it. It doesn't have to have meter or rhyme It is just that today you took time To tell them what they meant. Tell them that their life did matter And amid your childish patter You cherish the time they spent Don't let the fact that you've been hurt Or that their words were ever curt Don't let it the good remove Think of all of the sorrow If they should die tomorrow Never having heard the truth from you If Jesus ever wondered here below If He ever had to know What they thought of Him Then it must be surely so That the people that we know Wonder what we think of them So take the challenge that your given To make your life worth livin' By this gift of kindness shown For it is not the eloquence, you see That creates the eulogy But the truth that will be known.
