The Epistle of Jesus Christ St. Paul said that Jesus is writing a letter But not with ink or pen. He said that Christ is writing it In the hearts of men. Now, if He is writing a letter It means that He is away. I wonder what He is writing, I wonder what He did say. And who did he write this for To whom is the letter sent? His penmanship is really clear So that all will know what he meant. I am sure there are words that encourage That give to each sinner some hope. I am sure that His love is included To help the discouraged to cope. I am sure that the "Joy of the Lord" Is evident to all who read it. I am sure that the "Peace of God" Is there for all who need it. What if each word that He's chosen And written by His Spirit's power Is marred by the kind of "paper" Made moist by some recent shower. A shower of earthly contentment Of some sin or iniquity So that those who try to read us Can not clearly see. For we are being read each day By each one that we meet, A careless word or an angry look Bitter -- when we should be sweet. Seeking our own when others need us Or just looking the other way Can hurt God's loving message That He has written for today. May each home ring with laughter. And each heart have a song. May those who read our lives (No matter what's gone wrong) See our Blessed Savior the author Of this little letter. And may those who read our lives Be made a little better. May those who stumble in the dark Of this world so full of sin Read our lives to find God's light. May they each one enter in. As they read the message, not from God's great and precious Book, But from the lessons of our lives Should they take time to look. You guessed it! I am preaching tomorrow on II Cor.3:1-6 and yes I do need your prayers. January 30, 2000
