The Old Time Religion Today we are told that if something's old It needs to be replaced. Only something will do if it is brand new, The old has now been displaced. Religion, they say, if it belongs to today Must be measured by a new gage. So proudly they boast that from coast to coast The in thing is called the "New Age." Between me and you, there is nothing new About this New Age preaching. They feel free as a bird while rejecting God's Word And this is what they are teaching: Since God is not there they do not have prayer For they think that everything is God. They take their medication and practice meditation Worshiping the Tree and the Cod. Sin, they proudly say, is something that's passe And death is never really ever final. Reincarnation is the thing and it has a lovely ring (As they replace their leather with some vinyl.) But when they are alone with no one to atone For all of the times they have sinned, As their path leads to the grave with no one there to save Then death must be faced without a friend. The Bible may be old and doctrine may seem cold But they tell of God's great intervention. The peace that it will give for as long as one may live Cannot be replaced by any new invention.
