"If.. Free, Really"

What is Freedom?

If the word "kingdom" means 
	Dominated by the king,
What does  "freedom" mean
	Of which we often sing.

Some are very glad to say
	They wear no human chain
That they can come and go
	In sunshine or in rain

They boast that they fear not
	Any mortal yoke
And yet their very lives
	Are almost like a "joke".

For FEAR, that binds not
	With cords that one can see,
Holds them just as tightly
	And they are far from free!

Some fear the future,
	The pain that lies ahead.
Some are bound to the past
	And will 'til they are dead.

Some fear another person,
	What he may think of them,
For they do not know that others
	Are only mortal men

The world is full of fear
	As we all do know
We view it every day
	On each "News Show"

"The Son," we are told,
	Can set us truly free
So that no fear can bind
	Folk like you and me.

There is no pain that we may bear
	Like His upon the cross
There is no future calamity,
	And no financial loss,

There is no ugly experience
	That we may fear or dread
Can ever come upon us
	No matter what is said.

If we find our lives to be
	Held in His nail scared hand
So that nothing can disturb us
	If we truly understand

That He who controls the future
	Will never let it be
That the very future could
	Destroy you or me.

And that the God in Heaven
	Can dissolve the past
He has promised that He would
	Always hold us fast.

So let Him break the chain of fear
	And life will be worthwhile
If you take time to look to Him
       And view His welcomed smile!
