When God's Way Out Is Through When you are discourage And are feeling blue, Remember that God's way out Is more often going through. So when you are feeling lonely And wish you had a friend, Did you know that Jesus found That is how His life would end? He took into Gethsemane's Garden His special body guard, To watch with Him in His pain For life is sometimes hard. But they were not "with" him No matter what they said For their eyes were very heavy They longed to be in bed. It's true that angels tried to help him But they came from another world And those who took Him prisoner Had wicked words they hurled. And even as death faced Him He would not be alone For His mother stood near the cross She would not forsake her own. Yet He gave His own mother To His only friend. He and His Father together Would face life's final end. Oh, you who have faced alone The Vicissitudes of life Do not His word stab your heart Like the cutting of a knife? "My God, My God, Why have you Forsaken one like me?!" Too Good for earth and Too Bad for heaven He hung upon that tree. The thief who hung beside him Had no way of knowing The lonely pain our Savior felt Through which He was now going. And so it was, Christ met his end By Himself all alone. It was the only way there was For our sins to atone. Now He who knew the loneliness More than any man has known Promised that we would never leave us. He will never forsake His own! So tell Him of the pain you feel And tell Him of your fear. Know that your feelings are so precious He bottles every tear. And when this lonely life is over And our new life is brand new Then, yes maybe then, we'll understand Why God's way out was through. by Dr. Van , June 28,1998
