Wrote this when I had nothing better to do. Actually it was just befor the Super Bowl but I just finished it. Hope you like it When You Can't Do What You Want When I was very tiny, Just a little tike, And I wanted my own way When riding on my bike My folks would say to me, "You cannot take it, son, Into the street right now Because you are too young." Then when I got older And wanted to stay up late. They said you are still too young, Wait until you are eight. Then I wanted very badly To drive the family car. They said I wasn't old enough, Once again age was a bar. Then when I was eighteen And wanted to have some fun, They said I would have to wait Until I was twenty-one. Then when I am old enough To providefood and shelter Maybe, then maybe, it is true, Then I could be an "Elder." Now I am old enough, you know To stay up very late For I am closer now to the age Of being eighty-eight, And now I can ride a bike And even drive a car But the truth is really this, I can't drive it very far. Now that I don't need permission Yet once again I am told I can not do the things I want Because now I am too old! ghvs 1/29/97
