Who Crucified Jesus? Every Easter they ask this Question (one that can be easily resolved) Except that every detail is so intricately involved. Those that brought Him to Pilate were Holy men who could not be reviled. They avoided entering the praetorium lest they should be defiled. Pilate talked about his power as if he could set Jesus free. He tried and tried and tried again he had no power at all, you see. First, He gave them Barabbas thinking a robber they would not choose Over the man who stood before him.(How little he knew the Jews!) What was the crime for which He must die? Was not the crime itself a lie? NO. For He was a king! Christ would not deny it. Pilate could not let Him go although he would try it. Let them look at their Jesus now With purple robe and thorn crowned brow Then Pilate will accomplish his mission Surely the people will give him permission. Like every politician living today Who think that they will have their way To the will of their enemies they often bend When they hear, "You are not Ceasar's friend!" Was it Religion or politics that crucified him? Was it Jew or Gentile that denied him? The answer is neither one of them For the Savior died for our sin. So, if it was for sin he died Blood and water flowed from His side Then it must not be either/or for you see He was crucified by the sins of you and me. gvs@idt.net 3/21/2000
